Hello! I'm Yvonne.
I'm an independent journalist, audio producer, writer, and editor based in Brooklyn, New York.
I'm a queer, Mexican-American woman from the Rio Grande Valley, a region along the Texas-Mexico border. These identities are integral to my world view and my writing. I've always had a drive to report on issues impacting LGBTQ+ communities because it affects me and the people I love.
Throughout my career, I’ve reported on anti-trans legislation, discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ people in the workplace and healthcare, and written about homophobic and transphobic violence. But what fuels me the most is writing about queer and trans joy, community, and resilience despite these challenges.

Why support this newsletter?
As a journalist with over a decade of experience, I've seen a drastic shift in the industry over the last few years. It's incredibly tough to find jobs and finance the stories I want to cover so I started this newsletter as a way to pursue those stories. But I need your help.
With your financial support, I can continue to invest in this crucial work. You should subscribe if you believe in supporting:
✅ independent, queer media;
✅ queer and trans people;
✅ fun and thoughtful writing;
Your support sustains me and my work. Thank you so much!
