A New Year Revamp
Here's what you can expect from this newsletter in 2025.
Happy new year! I hope your holidays have been filled with rest and quiet contemplation. I visited my family in Texas for Christmas. My mom isn’t doing well health-wise so the holidays were bittersweet. I’m glad I spent time with my family and, at the same time, it was emotionally hard. Being an adult is balancing the light and dark, always. I’m happy to be back in the city in my warm, comfy home.
I’m excited for the new year. I have a clearer understanding of what I want to accomplish both personally and professionally. I’m working on my vision board and I’m writing down goals that make sense for my ADHD brain. I saw this Tiktok where the creator very bluntly said that SMART goals don’t work for people with ADHD and I felt LIBERATED. I was like yes, bitch! Thank you for saving me from another shame spiral because I literally cannot do a SMART goal. Instead, she suggests that people with ADHD set RIB goals: Reasonable. Interesting. Broken Down. She made the acronym up and honestly, it works for me! I lack dopamine and need variety and interest in order to motivate myself to accomplish a long-term project. Just acknowledging this is already helpful for me. Let me know if you have other goal-setting tips!
A few of my goals are related to this newsletter. I want to be more consistent with the publishing schedule and I want to grow my audience. I currently have 120 total subscribers and aim to get 200 by June. I think that’s a reasonable goal and I’ll be breaking down the tasks it’ll take to get there to keep myself interested in the goal.
Thank you so much for being a supporter of Queer Futures and being on this journey with me! I'm excited to learn and grow with you in 2025. ✨
